IV and IM Therapy Available at Market Place Naturopathic

IV and IM Therapy Available At Market Place Naturopathic

What is IV and IM Therapy?

Intravenous (IV) and Intramuscular (IM) therapy are injection techniques used to deliver safe, fast, and reliable treatments to those with a variety of conditions as well as those who are already healthy.

Why use IV and IM Therapy?

IV and IM therapy provides a more direct route of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other nutrients through the blood stream. As such, it offers the advantage of faster and more complete absorption when compared to other routes of administration.

This route bypasses what’s called first-pass metabolism in the liver, which accounts for the improved absorption. This is an important consideration for patients with poor gut absorption or inflammatory gastrointestinal conditions, as they cannot absorb supplements well through oral administration.

Working with Dr. Kerns has been the turning point in my health

Working with Dr. Kerns has been the turning point in my health and my life in general. An appointment with her is more valuable to me and useful than 100 appointments with most ‘mainstream’ doctors. I was unable to drive, read a book due to eye pain, some days could hardly sit up in a chair, for 3 years. I had been searching for answers that would get at the root cause of my chronic pain and infections for years, since I had to leave my dream non-profit job when I was 25. Dr. Kerns treats me like a peer or a friend while at the same time keeping track of so much knowledge from a vast array of disciplines. She has the best vibes. With her referrals to talented healers and her scary-accurate ART testing of what gentle supplements and anti-microbials I need at any given time, she has given me my life back and then some. I am forever grateful to the whole team at Market Place Naturopathic, who have all played a crucial role in me now joyfully saying I have hope in my life again.

I Highly Recommend Dr. Alena Zweben

After seeing ‘the best of the best’ for 20 years for celiac, lyme disease and other chronic infections, I met Dr Alena Zweben while she was doing her residency and when she started her own practice I followed her to her new office. I love her cheerfulness, gentle, intuitive, compassionate spirit and her office space is healing and quiet. She is thorough and addressed several things that had been completely overlooked improving my health significantly, one being mold in my home! I can come with some complaint: physical, mental or emotional that seems unrelated to anything I know of and she gets it right every time! I totally trust her! She’s worth the trip from California! I highly recommend her to all who need to get the right answers and treatment for their healing and vitality.

complex chronic illness treatment low dose immunotherapy

Low Dose Immunotherapy – An Immune Modulating Treatment for Complex Chronic Illness

Low dose immunotherapy, or LDI, is an immune modulation therapy that all patients dealing with complex chronic illness can benefit from, especially when there is an infectious component. LDI regulates the immune system to have a normal response to a specific pathogen or pathogens (including bacteria, viruses, mold, parasites, etc.).

When an infectious agent enters into the body, an inflammatory cascade is triggered in order to destroy that pathogen. With a healthy immune system, after the infectious agent is killed the inflammation ceases and the body returns to a state of health. In an individual with compromised immune function or an overactive immune system, persistent inflammation will continue and cause symptoms throughout the body.

LDI helps to restore tolerance to the compromised immune system by desensitizing it to specific pathogens (or antigens). Disease conditions that can be treated with LDI include: allergies of all types, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, CIRS, mold biotoxin illness, autoimmune arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, endometriosis, sarcoidosis, autism, myositis, autoimmune hepatitis, some forms of psoriasis, and many others.

This type of immune desensitization had its beginnings in the 1960s with Dr. Leonard McEwen who developed Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization (EPD), a form of immunotherapy that can treat different types of allergies. Dr. W.A Shrader Jr. then developed Low Dose Allergen therapy (LDA) from EPD. Within the past decade LDA was brought from allergy treatment into the infectious disease model by Dr. Ty Vincent. Dr. Vincent has continued to grow and develop this technique into what it is today.

LDI is an in-office treatment where the specific needed antigens are considered depending on the patient’s unique presentation and history. Our office determines the right antigens for you using Autonomic Response Testing (ART). After the antigens are chosen, their “strength” or “potency” is then determined on an individual basis and then administered orally in office. This is an exciting, unique treatment that has great potential in helping chronically ill patients!

Why I would recommend Dr. Fox

I met Dr. Fox at a Lyme Awareness event hosted at Market Place Naturopathic last year. From this event I subsequently found out that I have Lyme Disease. After over 20+ years of being very sick I could finally
say specifically what it was that was hindering my body from healing. The questions still to be answered were: How do I even begin to figure this out so I can get better? And who knows enough about this very complex disease to be my partner in helping me find my way to remission and wellness?

This is where Dr. Fox comes in. I started seeing him shortly after receiving my results in December of 2017. Since that time, he has tirelessly worked with me to uncover all the hidden facets of my Lyme puzzle. Dr. Fox has established a core treatment plan that is specific to my disease and has adjusted it each time I go in to ensure I continue to improve.

I will be forever thankful to the series of life events that have led me to Dr. Fox. He encourages me to be ‘real’ when I am at my appointments. His process and approach on things is very refreshing! He challenges me to stop and really evaluate where I am ‘at this moment’. Even when I am at my lowest I have never been pressured to start a treatment plan without first discussing in detail what it involves and having me go home to think about it further. Dr. Fox stresses that he is a true partner in my getting better and has proven that to be true time after time.

I highly recommend Dr. Fox to anyone who is not only looking for a general practitioner but also anyone searching for a specialist who can give you the answers (even if you have given up looking) you are searching for.

Dr. Kerns is a rare gem

I found Dr. Kerns after 20 years, and hundreds of doctors. I could no longer work with physicians who were ego-centered, and expected me to passively accept their expertise. Dr. Kerns is a rare gem, she seems to genuinely respect my own knowledge of my body, and invites me to participate as a full partner in healing.

Are you curious about Psychokinesiology? Dr. Kerns shares a few words to explain it.

The five levels of healing is a systematic model developed by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt that he based on the ancient sacred yoga sutras of Patanjali. The five levels include the physical body (the foundation upon which all else rests, the 1st level), the energy body (2nd level), the mental body (3rd level), the intuitive/dream body (4th level), and the spirit body (5th level). There is a profound interaction between all of the levels. One example is downward causation where unresolved emotional trauma on the intuitive, mental, or emotional level can lead to imbalances on the lower levels. Medical symptoms, psychiatric illnesses, life crises, relationship issues and emotional states originate from the greater domain of consciousness and are guides on our own growth journey.

Each level of healing in this model requires it’s own diagnostic approach and remedies for treatment. Psychokinesiology (PK) works on the 3rd and 4th levels by facilitating communication between the two known worlds: this world and the invisible world.  PK is a form of biofeedback psychotherapy or biofeedback guided counseling that is utilized when the original event causing the current problem is hidden in the subconscious and is not accessible to the mind. This healing system is a tool to help access the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious mind in order to support healing from chronic illness.

PK work allows for conscious awareness of how one’s choices, behaviors, decisions, ancestry, etc. impact our reality as well as impacting others and becoming part of the forces of evolution, change, and forward movement.  Much chronic illness is attributed to unresolved conflict or trauma in our own life, through our ancestry, or from past, future, or in-between lives. Often times, illness is an indication that a directional change needs to be made and PK is a tool to facilitate this healing.

Why sweat? Our skin is our largest organ and plays a vital role in detoxification. One of the six emunctories, or routes of elimination of the body, therapeutic sweating has been practiced for hundreds of years around the world. On a daily basis we are exposed to air pollution, pesticides/herbicides, heavy metals, plastics, toxins from our cosmetics, and the toxins produced by infections and molds. Mobilization and removal via sweat reduces total body burden of these toxins [1], which improves overall symptoms and disease states.

Why infrared? Infrared sauna is the technological advancement of traditional sauna. Despite being undetectable to the naked eye, the infrared light used in this particular type of sauna is able to penetrate the skin deeper, between 3-5 cm (about 1.5 inches) beneath the skin [2] compared to a traditional sauna. As a result, the heat creates a more vigorous sweat at a lower temperature. This allows for a more complete detoxification beyond just the blood stream. Many toxins are stored in fat cells, and thus are challenging to remove [3]. Subcutaneous fat, or fat located just below the skin surface, is the primary toxin laden site. Regular sweating (via exercise and/or sauna) aids in removal of these toxins through sweat, in addition to the body’s other elimination mechanisms [4].

In partnership with City Sweats, we have developed a program for our patients. We have developed special rates available only through our providers to give our patients with increased sensitivities the ability to sweat and detoxify safely in a truly healing and serene atmosphere.
